Rescue March for Victims of Genocide - State Capitol, Hartford
Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Christians, and other concerned citizens, united in prayer at The Connecticut State Capitol seeking to break the silence about the horrendous suffering of Christians and religious minorities in the recent Iraqi, Nigerian and other genocides. Guest Speakers included Stephanie Thompson, Voice of the Martyrs (persecution.com) ; Peter Wolfgang, Director, Family Institute of CT (ctfamily.org) & John Rankin, Theological Education Institute (teii.org). This powerful event was organized by William & Sophie Brown, Directors of Concerned Citizens for Christ.
After prayer & Scripture readings, a March (with signs!!) proceeded down Capitol Avenue! Several cars beeped their horns in support!
If you missed the Rally & March - it is NOT too late to get involved & make a difference!
On September 26th at 12 noon there will be a Prayer Vigil and Rally for Persecuted Christians. This date also marks the 2nd anniversary of Pastor Saeed Abedini's imprisonment in Iran. Saeed and his wife were very instrumental in house church revivals in Iran. Saeed, who immigrated to America with his family and became a U.S. citizen, returned to Iran to build an orphanage with government approval but the funds were confiscated and he was quickly imprisoned in the brutal and notorious Evin Prison there. As you may know support for Pastor Saeed's release has been primary in talking points from various organizations like Jay Sekulow's ACLJ, etc.
