Meet WIHS Station Manager Mark Channon
Mark joined the WIHS Staff on Monday, December 2, 2013. He is a lifelong resident of Connecticut and comes to WIHS with 24 years of broadcasting experience at stations in Hartford and Litchfield counties. Mark worked at The Hartford Courant newspaper for 27 years before becoming the House Manager and Volunteer Relations Manager at the historic Warner Theatre in Torrington.
Mark accepted Christ as Savior on August 5, 1967 at Word of Life Inn, Schroon Lake, NY through the ministry of evangelist, Don "Robbie" Robertson. In addition to meeting the Savior at Word of Life, he also met his wife at Word of Life. Mark and Elaine were married in 1985. The Lord has blessed their lives with two daughters, Olivia and Diana. Elaine is the Office Manager at Torrington's Christian Counseling Connection. Olivia is a junior at Roosevelt University in Chicago and a member of Moody Church. Diana graduated from the Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida in August and is currently a sophomore at Houghton College.
"WIHS radio has been a part of my life since I was a kid", Mark says. "It's both an honor and privilege to be a part of this station and to use the talents, gifts and experience the Lord has given me to serve this vital ministry. I'm grateful for the warm and enthusiastic welcome the WIHS Board of Directors and Staff have given me. I'm looking forward to working with them, and to see what the Lord will accomplish through us!"
